Why the Naserena Foundation?

By living in and with nature ourselves, and coming into contact with people who have been consciously engaged with this lifestyle for a long time, we are becoming increasingly aware of how much our way of life impacts nature.

The enormous amount of waste we produce daily per person, the ease with which we turn on the lights, flush the toilet with drinking water, take long showers, or buy processed food from the supermarket that comes from all corners of the world. These are just a few examples that show how luxury and convenience gradually alienate us from nature.

We have completely lost our connection with nature, and the consequences of this are noticeable to everyone.

We have grown up in a throwaway culture where the impact of our actions on nature has faded from view. Everything must be quick, efficient, and cheap to meet our needs with minimal effort. This process has been ongoing for some time, and in our parents’ generation, there is a growing awareness of the enormous impact this has on nature. However, in a large part of the current generation, this awareness is further away than ever.

As a foundation, our mission is to make people aware of their influence on nature. We aim to bring people together and offer them a new way of thinking through practical experiences. This way, they can make better-informed choices and learn to work together on the restoration of nature and the bond between humans and nature.

Helping nature

Nature has an incredible capacity to heal and take care of itself. Unfortunately, humans are even better at destroying that nature, and at a much faster pace. Our goal is to help nature by planting more trees, shrubs, and flowers (with a focus on diversity), making the soil more fertile, and retaining as much water as possible. We aim to use this as an example to inspire and educate others.

Connecting people

We want to create a place in nature where people can come together to learn from one another and grow spiritually, addressing the sense of alienation that many experience. This fosters deeper personal and spiritual connections with nature and with each other.

Raising awareness

The greatest change must come from within. Let’s call it an awakening, where we learn how to contribute gratefully and embrace our nurturing role. We need to reconnect with our higher selves, with each other, and with nature.

Where do we go from here?

Our personal transformation through living in nature has convinced us that such a way of life can also be effective for others.

By temporarily removing people from their current environment and introducing them to life in nature in a practical way, we believe we can make them more aware of their own influence on and connection with nature.

We hope for the support of the current and previous generations to jointly offer future generations a new direction.

How are we going to approach this?

We want to offer as many people as possible the same experience that started it all for us: hands-on involvement in a project in nature to discover firsthand how things can be different. We believe this is the best way to create awareness.

Many visitors have already spent short or extended periods working on the project, contributing to daily tasks and learning a lot about what sustainable and regenerative living concretely means.

In the (near) future, we also plan to organize workshops and retreats around these themes to reach larger groups of people.

How do you support us?

We strongly believe in our mission. That’s why all the income we generate ourselves goes directly towards covering the costs of developing the project. Unfortunately, this is not enough to fully realize our mission.

To provide physical accommodations for participants in our project or events, a lot still needs to be done, especially if we want to welcome more people in the future. Various buildings on our property need renovation so that we can offer people a place to stay and create spaces for teaching, cooking, and gathering. Additionally, we also want to improve the surrounding landscape by planting more trees and supporting nature in various other ways. This way, we aim to create an educational environment to show people ‘how things can be different.’

We are looking for people who want to help develop the project, so we can, in turn, help others. You can support us as a volunteer or donor in the development of the project. Every financial contribution is greatly appreciated. There is much work to be done here; from purchasing building materials for the accommodations to acquiring seeds and trees, everything costs money. Even the smallest donations contribute to achieving the goal we believe in. If you believe in us, we will ensure your contribution is used effectively!
